About Us
We are the Girls Choral Academy (previously known as the West Michigan Academy of Music for Girls),
a unique program of music for girls who love to sing
and wish to grow not only musically, but personally,
in self esteem, and in leadership skills as well. We
are operating in our tenth anniversary season, and we are proud of the musical
gift we offer to the community of West Michigan.
We give two major concerts, two musicals, and one annual benefit concert each year and involve girls
in eight choirs ranging in age from 4 though 18, coming
from all over West Michigan including 23 communities
from as far away as Sand Lake, Greenville, Lowell,
Wayland, Dorr, Zeeland, and Ravenna. They attend public, private, charter and parochial schools,
or are home-schooled. They come from a wide variety
of ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds, but they are
all united by their excitement about singing, about
choir, and about being a girl! We are also firmly committed
to diversity in membership and repertoire.
Three of our choirs are located in southwest, urban Grand Rapids near
Grandville Avenue.
We are always looking for new members, so if you know
of a girl who LOVES to sing - give us a call at 616-361-6111.
