Check withYour Employer

See if your employer will match your donation!  Perhaps you can start one!

Have you ever asked your employer to a challenge?  Challenge them and see if they will match your donation - you can make your gift go twice as far while earning great publicity for your company as GCA will promote you both on the Academy's social media for any matching gifts at the $500 level or more!

Give a Girl the World!

Can you help GCA give a singer a passport to the world?  It costs approximately $350 for one girl to participate in weekend trip to Chicago with the choir, and even with fundraising efforts, this can prohibit some choristers from being able to participate in the year end celebration.  3-day trip, and up to $1500 for longer tours.  Donate to our tour fund and help a deserving young Grand Rapidian expand their horizons as they learn life skills, confidence and a more global view of their world that sets the stage for leadership!

Donate an In-Kind Item

In-kind donations are non-cash gifts that can include time, services and physical goods. In-kind charitable gifts can help nonprofits have access to specific mission-relevant resources or even giveaway items for fundraising galas and raffles. Some forms of volunteering can be considered in-kind donations, too, if they offer a specialized skill.

Donate a Physical Item

Nonprofits like GCA can accept tangible property items like cars, boats and even real estate as charitable donations.  In many cases, though, the donor will simply donate the item and receive a tax benefit in return, while the nonprofit can decide whether to keep or sell it for cash.

Contribute by Stock or Wire Your Gift

Donations of stock shares can be a key source of income for charities. In turn, donors who give appreciated non-cash assets like stocks to charities can receive significant tax benefits. By donating stock, donors can avoid paying capital gains taxes on the appreciation and typically can receive a tax deduction for the full fair market value of the stock at the time of the donation.  To contribute stock or wire a gift to the Girls Choral Academy, contact Jody Deems-McCargar, Director of Development at jody@girlschoralacademy.org

Tribute or Memorial Donations

Tribute donations can be made in honor or memory of a loved one, friend or colleague. These donations can help you express your appreciation or sympathy for someone close in your life, while supporting a cause that is important to them. Memorial donations aren’t just means of providing financial support, they can also raise awareness for the GCA’s mission and increase our impact.

Legacy Donations

Legacy gifts, also known as planned gifts, are an important source of support for nonprofits because they can provide long-term, sustainable funding. That’s because many of these donations provide charities with support for an extended period of time which can last years or even decades. Legacy donations take many forms, including annuities, several kinds of trusts, and bequests made through wills.
