Four choirs in two great neighborhoods

The Girls Choral Academy is proud to have partnered since 1999 with GRPS to provide this vibrant and growing neighborhood after school music program that is tuition-free, due to the generosity of local business, foundations and private donors!

The Grandville Neighborhood Girls Choirs program ("GNGC") is located in two regions and designed for  3rd through 5th grade girls.  All four schools are in the Grand Rapids Public Schools district.

The "SOUTHWEST" GNGC singers attend classes at

(1) Southwest Academy-Bilingual,

(2) Cesar E. Chavez Elementary, and

(3) Buchanan Elementary.

The "SOUTHEAST" GNGC singers is for girls who attend Campus Elementary.

The Grandville Neighborhood Girls Choirs serve girls in urban Grand Rapids with emphasis placed on inspiring vocal music in a positive atmosphere. The repertoire is varied and includes Hispanic folk songs, jazz, classical and gospel tunes.

In addition to weekly rehearsals,  students perform in three (3) major concerts a year, as well as small performance opportunities in their communities.   Girls enjoy going on special field trips which in the past have included outings to local orchard, museums and musical performances around the City of Grand Rapids, touring local colleges, and an end of season performances out of town in cities like Chicago.

GCA relies heavily on volunteers to make special opportunities possible; choir fundraising events, and parents and guardians are encouraged to get involved and their dedication is greatly appreciated by the GCA staff!

THE DOWNTOWN CAMPUS GIRLS CHOIRS

GCA's Downtown Choirs program provides music education, performances,  social events and travel opportunities for girls in grades 1-12. To ensure that each student is placed in a choir that best fits their age and ability, we conduct vocal evaluations for students in 3rd grade and above.

The season lasts from September through May and rehearsals take place in the Choir Room located in the lower level of First United Methodist Church, 227 Fulton St E, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.

The "Downtown Choirs" are a tuition-based program.  Program fees are show below.  We understand that financial circumstances can be a barrier, and offer scholarship applications to ensure that every girl has the opportunity to participate in our program. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.
